Traditional Indonesian Martial Art for Practical Self-Defence
Pencak Silat Anyar Cimande Buhun translates as “new Cimande from old.” The words Anyar (new) and Buhun (old) come from the Sundanese language of West Java, reflecting the system’s roots in traditional Indonesian martial arts while expressing them through a modern lens.
Known in short as A.C.B., this system represents Johnny Silmon’s assimilation and adaptation of the Cimande he studied under Guru Makmur Suradilaga (1953–2010) of Ciawi, Bogor, and Mang Eem Suhaemi (1947–) of Plered, Purwakarta. Mang Eem’s Silat includes influences from Sabandar, Cikalong, and other West Javanese subsystems, giving A.C.B. both depth and breadth within the Sundanese fighting traditions.
A.C.B. preserves the essence of traditional Pencak Silat while also refining it for realistic self-defence application.
Style Focus
Close-Range Striking
Pencak Silat Anyar Cimande Buhun is a practical close-range striking martial art incorporating both armed and unarmed methods. The system builds on the core Jurus of Cimande while integrating material from Paguron Mang Eem Suhaemi, expanding its tactical range.
The expression of the art draws from two animal archetypes:
Macan (Tiger): Forward pressure, courage, and powerful, crushing strikes.
Monyet (Monkey): Agility, reflex, angle changes, and whipping, snapping attacks.
This balance of aggression and mobility defines the character of A.C.B.

Practical Self-Defence Training
Although A.C.B. addresses all combat ranges, it specialises in standing close-quarter combat. While ground adaptability is trained, the priority is regaining the feet quickly.
This reflects the system’s real-world self-defence focus. Situations outside the training hall may involve multiple attackers, unstable terrain, or environmental hazards. Training emphasises awareness, positioning, decisive action, and mobility under pressure.
